A note from Karen Dunk-Green, Chair of the 473 Project Team, recorded on August 22, 2024.
Hi everyone. I’ve just come from 473 where it’s a beautiful sunny busy day. There are over 20 workers on site today doing various things.
I watched a guy in a mini bulldozer ripping up the layer of asphalt that covers the ground underneath our overhang where the loading dock was. And that’s preparing that space so that foundations can be dug through the exposed earth to support our new enclosed major meeting room at the back of the first floor.
I was also up on the roof where I watched a guy, basically with a flamethrower, melting the surface of the material that actually then is sealed onto the top of the roof as part of the new roof covering up there.
And I talked to the guys who are building the forms to next week do the pouring of the concrete that will establish our new staircase from the ground floor to the second floor.
So there’s a lot going on. If you want to check it out, and who doesn’t love a construction equipment video?
It’s happening!
