Gaian teacher and scholar of Buddhism Joanna Macy wrote that “The heart that breaks open can contain the whole world.” But wounds are sometimes ugly, and we want to protect them, to cover them up. So what could be healing about showing the wounds? How can we get to the place where our wounds enable us to “contain the whole world”? How do we heal wounds in a time of such profound cultural and political wounding?
