Sermon by Linda Thompson.
This Sunday we are delighted to welcome Rev. Linda Thomson to the First Unitarian pulpit.
Linda first found UUism in 1983, when she walked into the First Unitarian Church of Hamilton. Before beginning work supporting congregations, she was an active lay leader, serving as Chair of the Board, on the HR committee and as a Lay Chaplain. Linda studied at Meadville Lombard Theological School, graduating with a Masters of Divinity in 2013. The First Unitarian Church of Hamilton ordained Linda in May of 2013.
Linda now serves as Congregational Life Lead for the Central and Eastern regions of the Canadian Unitarian Council. Knowing first-hand the value of religious community – having joys celebrated, care offered and assumptions challenged – Linda is committed to helping congregations and communities respond to the needs of the people they serve.
Linda’s sermon “Lost and Found” will explore themes especially relevant to us as we begin our annual pledge campaign led by Team Generosity. What do we find when we become part of a congregation? What do we give up, and what do we receive in return?
We’ll also hear from the Chair of Team Generosity, Catherine Lake, and enjoy another uplifting musical offering from Resident Musician Danny Fong. As we mark the two-year anniversary of our online ministry, we celebrate the many ways we continue to deepen in community, enrich our spiritual lives, and serve the wider world through the many blessings of congregational life at First
Love, Lynn
