A Quick Tour of our British Unitarian Roots

Sermon by Rev. Dr. Stephen Atkinson, online and in person at 473 Oakwood Ave.

Manchester College Oxford Chapel

Sometimes history can be fun—not living it necessarily, but at least knowing about it after the fact. There are many Unitarian Universalists today who relate primarily to their own congregation, minister, friends current values, and such. Yet, the roots of who we are, why we’re together and what we believe/think/consider go back hundreds of years. Today, let’s look at the early development of Unitarianism in Britain, with a few nods to Universalism. I’ll definitely tell you about the Energizer Bunny of the 17th Century! (Trigger warnings for those who need them: These historical concepts will be spoken of and discussed: God. Jesus Christ. Church. Christianity. Holy Spirit. You’ve been warned!)
