Dreams Do Come True

Sermon by Rev. Linda Thomson, online and in person at 473 Oakwood Ave.

473 Oakwood Ave

I know that when the members of this congregation made the choice to move from their old location, they envisioned an exciting and accessible home that would serve the congregation’s needs and which could be a lively community hub. After seven months since our first in-person service here, things have really started to happen.

Each week I’m gratified to see people making coffee, greeting, singing, working together at the ‘make and take’ table that Angela, our Director of Lifespan Learning coordinates. Congregational activities are being scheduled with greater frequency. The schedule also shows a space that is working to serve our community; a non-UU choir, a blood donor clinic and a film screening are just some of the activities that will happen in our building. It is thrilling to know that what we dreamed is actually happening.

This week, in addition to the joy of dedicating a child, I’ll reflect on what makes a home, and how our space is truly becoming one.
