The Big Reveal of Rev. Alex Jensen

The following message was delivered at our Sunday service on April 12, 2026:

Good morning, my name is Beth Ann McFadden and I am one of the co-chairs of the Ministerial Search committee. Before I begin, I’d like to introduce you to the rest of the “MSC”. My co-chair Loo Russell, Judy Clarke, Harold Wright, Kim Saltarski and Terri Marks. And we can’t forget Maya Ferguson-Klinowski. Maya made a huge contribution by coordinating the congregational survey last fall.

Please know that we all feel that being on the MSC has been everything – challenging, worrisome, fun, exhausting, satisfying and WONDERFUL.

We are grateful for the trust you’ve put in us and it has been an honour to serve you in this very important work.

The MSC was charged with representing all of our members (current and future) in the search for our next Settled Minister. The input you gave us through: the Survey, the 12 Focus Groups, the B4 workshop and the Sharing Circles was crucial. Your priorities have always been foremost in our minds and we are confident that we’ve found the Minister you asked for.

  • This Minister is an excellent preacher & communicator.
  • He is emotionally mature, grounded, compassionate, and self-aware.
  • He is a collaborative team-oriented leader.
  • He is skilled at attracting & building bonds with families and youth.
  • He describes “Youth Ministry” as a particular joy for him – choosing to serve as Chaplain at a UU youth camp 3 times.
  • He is a compassionate pastoral presence.
  • He has a strong orientation towards social justice work. In high school he organized a concert to feed people & called it “music for meals.”
  • He is a community builder and a conflict mediator.
  • He is approachable, joyful and authentic.
  • He wants to make a long-term commitment to us.
  • He is eager to learn Canadian ways.
  • He has every intention of challenging us to stretch and grow.
  • The only REAL concern we have about this Minister, is that he doesn’t eat enough.

And now, for your consideration, as our new settled minister, we are thrilled to present our Ministerial candidate Rev. Alex Jensen.

Note: Next Sunday (April 19) there will be a Welcome Lunch for the Minister followed by a Q&A. Food will be provided from neighborhood shops. Ricky Chan, will be coordinating. He can’t do pick-up, set-up and clean-up on his own, so please sign-up and help him out! Let’s make this a great experience for Ricky and an impressive Welcome for Reverend Alex.

Email Ricky to volunteer.
