My name is Brigit Swenson. I’m a member of this community and excited to be the chair of our first pledge campaign since landing at the beautiful building of 473 Oakwood!
After six months here, we are already Making This House Our Home!
A home is made of many things – above all, love and community. There is music, laughter, sometimes dancing, sometimes tears. There is a hearth – or chalice! – at the heart, a kitchen for coffee and connection. There are meals and conversations. There is learning and growth, joy and sorrow. There is comfort and safety. We have already welcomed new friends and members, and continue our important work of supporting the settlement of new refugees.
But all of these come with costs, and after several years adrift, we all need to continue to lend a hand to build and rebuild. This year, our pledges to support this beloved FirstU Family and our new home carry special importance. And with a new minister on the way, we need all the more to show that we can sustain and enrich this home.
As you consider how much to give, in addition to weighing your means and your capacity, you can ask yourself what this home means to you, and what part you want to play in this family. Also, remember that your donation is tax-deductible and you will receive up to 46% back in your tax return. You can also advise us to change your pledge at any time, if necessary.
To help you in this decision, we have included a Giving Guide, based on work by other congregations.
Automated and pre-authorized donations are the most helpful method for our budgeting process and the most secure way of donating. If you are already giving in these ways, we deeply appreciate your commitment.
Remember that your donation is tax-deductible and you can advise us to change your pledge at any time, if necessary. We know that circumstances can change. You can update or cancel this pledge at any time by calling the office at 416-924-9654.
If you have any questions about the process or this form, please contact Team Generosity for technical support and assistance in completing this form. Or you can print the form and mail it to us.
