Personal Resilience

Sermon by Danielle Webber.

Trees leaning on each other

You can do it & you don’t need to do it alone

So often in North American or Western Society, we have an individualistic outlook on life: pull yourself up by your bootstraps, climb the corporate ladder, and achieve success. We are surrounded by idols who have made it all on their own, started from nothing, or single-handedly achieved success. But what if the real secret behind resilience is not in breaking away from others, but in leaning on each other for strength. This Sunday we will be looking at how our Unitarian Universalist Principle of the interdependent web of which we are all a part, has to do with our willingness to be in relationship with each other, not just the wider eco-systems that we are part of. How do we withdraw from society’s suggestions and create a more resilient world?

I am looking forward to exploring these ideas together with you,
Rev. Danielle Webber.
