Sermon by Shawn Newton.
When we conjure in our mind’s eye the great temples of antiquity—think the Pantheon, the Parthenon, Hagia Sophia, and Angor Wat—we see enduring edifices meant, on some level, to nurture the interior experience, the inner life, of those who enter them. In this today’s sermon, Rev. Shawn will be asking what might come from building up “temples of the heart.” What might be nourished within such sanctuaries? What enduring and outward experiences might be fashioned from our inner resources? And what materials would we use to build such temples in the first place?
Later in the service, the choir will be singing Morten Lauridsen’s stunningly beautiful “Dirait-on”.
