Behold the Glory of It All: Christmas Eve Service

Sermon by Shawn Newton & Lynn Harrison.

Holding candles aloft

This year we are celebrating Christmas Eve with the Neighbourhood UU Congregation with two candlelight and carol services, held in their sanctuary at the back of Eastminster United Church (at 310 Danforth), which can be accessed from Jackman Avenue. Neighbourhood’s choir is taking the lead at the earlier service, and First’s choir will be singing at the later one. Rev. Shawn’s sermon is titled “Behold the Glory of It All.” And Rev. Lynn will sing “In the Bleak Midwinter.” The service will conclude with our traditional candlelighting ritual amid strains of “Silent Night” and other beloved carols

Children are fully welcome in the sanctuary. Childcare will be available at 7pm, and both services will include an activity space for children within the sanctuary.

For those gathering in person, refreshments will be available between the services, starting roughly at 8pm. All are welcome to join in this shared social time between our two congregations.

We will return to Oakwood Collegiate on New Year’s Day for our annual Fire Communion ritual.

A reminder that we won’t be holding a service on Christmas Day.

Both Christmas Eve services will be streamed online.
