Sermon Rev. Shawn Newton.
One of our most beloved traditions at First is marking Coming of Age Sunday, the service we hold every couple of years that celebrates the young people in our congregation who have spent the past year coming into their own, coming of age in our tradition. On Sunday, two of our youth (Alexa Yaphe and Cosima MacLean) will share their wisdom with us all, as they mark this significant milestone. The choir will sing Fred Small’s “Everything Possible.” Jordan Yaphe will serve as our worship leader. And my homily will reflect on what it means for each of us to come of age, again and again, as we deepen our self-understanding and grow in our faith.
