The Three Vital Questions

Sermon by Shawn Newton.

Human Rights Day Logo This Sunday, we will celebrate International Human Rights Day by honouring the work of Amnesty International to free prisoners of conscience around the globe. Ted Wood will offer a testimony and issue an invitation to join in this year’s Write for Rights initiative. You will also be asked to consider financially supporting Amnesty’s life-giving work in the world.

My sermon will take up the enduring questions Rabbi Hillel posed 2,000 years ago:

If I am not for myself, who will be for me?

If I am only for myself, what am I?

And, if not now, when?

The choir will conclude the service with Moses Hogan’s rousing “Like a Mighty Stream.”
