Our Holiday Schedule

As the year draws to a close and we celebrate the holiday season, we invite you to join in our festive activities. There’s something for everyone, so read on below to make your choices.

Thursday, December 21, 7:00 p.m. Winter Solstice Service (In Person Only)
 St. Matthew’s United Church (in the Parlour), 729 St. Clair Ave. W.
Join us for our Winter Solstice service, a contemplative service where we welcome the return of longer days. We will be led by Maya Ferguson-Klinowki and Donald Cole, with special guest, harpist Sharlene Wallace.

Sunday, December 24, 10:30 a.m. All Ages Christmas Eve Service (In Person and Online)
Join Rev. Victoria Ingam at the Neighbourhood UU sanctuary (310 Danforth but use the Jackman Ave entrance which is accessible) this Christmas Eve morning to share stories and songs of the festive holiday season. We’ll enjoy ancient stories as well as recent verses, treasured carols and modern classics, rituals familiar and new as we gather together. Plan to stay after the service for a time of conversation and connection as we enjoy special holiday treats and beverages. There will also be a collection for the Minister’s Discretionary Fund.

Join Board President Tanya Cothran and fellow Firsters for trivia at The Oakwood Hardware (337 Oakwood Ave.).  Please email Tanya for more information.

Sunday, December 31, 10:30 a.m. New Year’s Eve Service (online only)
The Year-End Ritual Exercise. Tracey Erin Smith, founder of SOULO Theatre joins us as our guest speaker. Tracey will speak on themes of renewal and letting go, and will lead us on a creative exercise of self-reflection as we look back on the year past and forward to the year ahead.

Sunday, January 7, 10:30am Fire Communion Ritual (in-person at OCI and online)
At this annual service, we will be invited to let go of what can be released and to invite in the promise of the new year.
