The Canadian Unitarians for Social Justice (CUSJ) is a national faith-based organization founded in support of Unitarian values. The Toronto First Chapter of CUSJ consists of members and friends who involve themselves in local, regional, national and international debate and action in matters of social, economic, environmental and political justice.

We aim to put into practice our UU principles and purposes, in particular, “justice, equity and compassion in human relations” and “the goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all”.

The Statement of Purpose on the back cover of the CUSJ quarterly newsletter, JUSTNews, includes “social action aimed at the relief of poverty and economic injustice, abuses of human rights and of the democratic process”.

Our newsletter plus CUSJ Board letters to our political leaders of the day are meant to be springboards for further discussion and action by individual UU’s as well as by Social Justice chapters across Canada.

The Toronto First Chapter hosts a monthly Social Justice Film series as well as a regular Sunday table during coffee hour. Members are also encouraged to post articles and events on the Social Justice Bulletin Board in Workman Hall.
